Once again the regular one-day BSS meeting will be held at Sutton Hall, Stockcross, Newbury RG20 8LN on Saturday 23rd. September from 10:00 until 4:00. There will be exhibits of dials and related material, talks and a bookstall.
Thanks as ever to David Pawley for organising the event. There is no need to book, just turn up on the day. Guests are welcome, as are long-standing members and first-time visitors. Do come along to this highly popular event, and have a most enjoyable and relaxing day out.
Exhibits, talks, bookstall
Beautiful country village setting. Plenty of free parking. Modernised village hall with ample space, tables and chairs for all your interesting displays (indoors and outside) of sundials, models, photos etc. Please include a card with your name on any displays.

- Paraphernalia
Speakers welcome – 10-minute talks / demos. Please e-mail David Pawley with suggestions for talks, ideally before mid-September 2017 if possible.
Programme
Village Hall open from 9.00 am to 4.00. Free tea and coffee to greet you on arrival. Sign in: donation of £10.00 each (correct moneys helpful).

Morning
Informal gathering and display of exhibits
Bookstall
Short 10-minute talks from 10 am. Please contact David Pawley if you would like to give a talk.
Midday
Bring a picnic lunch and chat with friends indoors or in the lovely grounds. Hot and soft drinks provided.
Afternoon
Further short 10-minute talks/chats.
Tour around all exhibits.
Special Feature – Heliochronometers
Bring along your heliochronometers (sundials which tell clock time with adjustments for the Equation of Time and longitude).

Public Transport
If coming by train or coach – please e-mail David the week before to let him know the time of arrival at Newbury Station, and we will try to arrange your collection from the Station. Include your mobile phone number. Taxis are available outside the Rail Station if preferred, fares generally £8 / £10. I’m sure attending members would be happy to give lifts back to Newbury Station.
Car
From the North – Junction 13, M4, take A34 Newbury Bypass south. (Do not go left on A339) Take first exit signposted A4 Hungerford. (Beware slow down 30mph – VERY sharp bend exit)
From the South – take the A34 Newbury Bypass – leave at A4 slip road. (Beware slow down 30mph – VERY sharp bend exit).
At roundabout take 2nd exit A4, at next Roundabout take 2nd exit B4000.
In Stockcross village, take 2nd left into Church Road, and the Village Hall will be on the right. There will be yellow BSS direction signs.
