Sundial blog post updates

Although the winter solstice has just past, visitors may be interested in a short interview Frank King gave on BBC Radio Scotland on 21st December discussing the solstice and how we perceive it:

Following the temporary suspension of the Members Area while we confirmed our hosting company’s GDPR compliance, I’m pleased to say that they have updated their policies and access to the Member’s Area has now been reinstated.

Thanks to B. Tomas Johansson for providing a paper on the use of vectors and projections as a efficient way of describing 3D objects and hence of general use for sundials. The full paper can be read here.

Beautiful country village setting. Plenty of free parking. Modernised village hall with ample space, tables and chairs for all your interesting displays (indoors and outside) of sundials, models, photos etc. Please include a card with your name on any displays.

  • Dials: finished, or in progress
  • Pictures
  • Paraphernalia

Speakers welcome – 10-minute talks / demos. Please e-mail David Pawley with suggestions for talks, ideally before mid-September 2015 if possible.

Despite assurances prior to 25th May that our hosting company would be fully GDPR compliant, we have not yet received the necessary confirmation from them. Accordingly, in order to ensure the Society’s continued compliance, we have taken the decision to temporarily suspend access to the members area We hope to restore access as soon as possible, in the meantime the remainder of the site is fully available as usual.
